This short stemmed pewter cup features one panel that is a scene at a well. The other panel is part of the poem. German script on cup (English translation) - Outside the gate's a fountain And an old gentle tree, Under its shady branches My dreams were sweet and free. I carved in its old bark, So many phrases dear. In times of joy and sadness It always drew me near.
